What's on the Plate

1. Two completed feature film trailers are posted on www.youtube.com. These are films I've photographed between 2006 and 2007. The films are Battle in Seattle and The Hurt  Locker. The Hurt Locker was photographed in Jordan. Two additional credits are currently in post production: I Love You Beth Cooper and Cats and Dogs 2.

2. Currently preparing for business meetings in Montreal. My patented design product is fetching some interest amongst companies. Meetings are scheduled for early February where distribution and licensing deals will be discussed.

3. Currently writing a proposal, treatment, and pilot script for a property I'm developing. This project became a reality while on a motorcycle trip throughout the Pacific Northwest. It's catch phrase: Home is an opportunity at the worst possible time.

Jordan: July 2007

Hi from sunny Amman, Jordan!

I have been here for 7 days now... arriving at midnight last Sunday night. The past week has been spent in a van or in production meetings for the feature film The Hurt Locker, shot by my pal Barry Ackroyd bsc.

We will be here until mid September shooting a story about an elite bomb diffusion unit working in  Iraq. Both Kuwait and Jordan are our host countries. The Kuwait portion of the shoot will be filmed on an American military base.

The surveys have been varied from desert locations 70 kms out of town to a Palestinian refugee camp in a nearby town, to urban locations in and around this beautiful city of some 2 million.

The 5 times daily prayers that envelope the city are very calming and beautiful. The city itself is teeming with a random sort of traffic that navigates 7 traffic circles. There are no lights.

Cafes and bars are varied from traditional fare to international cuisine. Sushi, pizza, and pastas are available at some cool rooms in town with chill tunes to boot.

We were scheduled to begin our photography in Kuwait on Monday.
Bad news however... the US is planning a major offense during this time and the base we were to work from is off limits to us. That sucks as we were jacked to get the hottest part of our shooting schedule behind us right off the bat. I mean 50 C. hot!

The production is scrambling to assemble a new schedule which will allow us to begin filming in Jordan but there are many variables still up in the air. Props, Set Dec., and Wardrobe in particular are awaiting clearances for such necessities as weapons and humvees which need to first clear customs.

Wacked.

Our spirits are quite good though.
The camera guys: Barry, Stewart, Ollie, Tom, Darade, and myself are in good form. We laugh a lot as is the norm in this biz... and get the job done.

The photo is from a day trip a group of us took yesterday at Petra: One of the Seven Wonders of the World. We also spent the night in a Bedouin camp under the stars.

I'll put together a slideshow at some point but right now I just wanted to post this note on my site.

Cheers,

scottymac

Out of town for a while...

Doing business in Southeast Asia. Attending a trade show in Bangkok. Searching for an industrial manufacturer. I've invented and designed a product which is now registered under New Industrial Design in Canada. While out of town, we will be touring Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
